The Vortex Smoking Survey will be active until 12 noon on Thursday January 31, 2019. So, don’t miss your chance to let us know what YOU think. If you haven’t done so yet, CLICK HERE to take the survey. I know I said my last Smoking Survey UPDATE would probably be my ONLY update, but I continue to be amazed by how helpful our faithful fans are. Less than seven days into this survey and over 10,000 people have already taken it. We’ve got three weeks to go. If this keeps up, who knows what the final count will be?

To be clear, this survey is about our smoking policy ONLY, and nothing else. We have been getting a lot of replies that basically say, “I don’t care what your smoking policy is, but for the love of god, don’t start letting kids in The Vortex.” Be advised, if we do change our smoking policy due to the results of this survey, it will not affect our age restriction. The Vortex will continue to be a bar designed for adults. I just wanted to put that out there to alleviate everyone’s obvious concerns.

As a former smoker who quit and also a frequent visitor to The Vortex if you did allow smoking inside I will no longer support you!

I’m confused by your claim that you are “a frequent visitor to The Vortex” but you would “no longer support” us if we were to allow smoking inside. To clarify, we HAVE allowed smoking inside both locations since we originally opened for business, and currently continue to allow smoking at the bar (but not at tables). We believe our current smoking policy may no longer be as popular as it once was, so we are using this online survey to decide whether or not we should reduce or eliminate smoking altogether. Anyway, thank you for your confusing input. And be sure to check back here in early February to see what decisions we have made.

Smoking is fine as long as kids under 18 aren’t allowed in

    1. Michael Benoit says:

Our current age restriction is “21 and over,” and this policy will not be impacted whether or not we continue to offer any options for smoking. Our concern is that our smoking policy may no longer be as popular as it once was, so we are reassessing it with the help of our fans using this online survey. Thank you for your input. Be sure to check back here in early February to see what decisions we have made.

Thanks for all the love. And thank you for taking our online Smoking Survey. Check back here in early February to see what the outcome is.

I’m good either way. The burgers are what draw me in, not the smoking… I’m a non-smoker, but have never noticed that it was “too smoky” in there for me to eat.

You sound like the perfect patron. We are happy to hear you love our burgers, and also that you don’t think our bar smells like an ashtray. Thank you for taking our online Smoking Survey. Be sure to check back here in early February to see what the outcome is.

I have never been to your place because of the smoking policy. I’m not a smoker, but I don’t hold it against smokers. I didn’t know that the table area was non smoking until I read some of the post and replies. I have decided to come tonight for the first time. I would vote for non-smoking, but it is your place and I will support your decision.

  6. Wayne Keith says:

All for no smoking! But either way it’s your business and will respect your choice. Just bring back the Fish and Chips!

  7. Stefania says:

I have already participated in the survey but I just wanted to add that I am a non-smoker and the smoke does not bother me or anyone I have ever been there with before. It really makes the atmosphere. I visit the Midtown location as much as I can and I rarely ever even notice the smoke. You guys are my favorite! Everyone that knows me, knows you are my to go place. Always! I hope it does not change but even if it does– I will be there to get my hell’s fury on no matter what! Stay fckng fab and never change!

I believe smoking should not be allowed.Give the people that do not smoke the option of now having to inhale smoke.i think that it is not mainly about oh some people just don’t want to smoke so it’s their problem.what if they have breathing issue or maybe just don’t want they clothes to Reek cigeratte I think if you want to smoke than please go outside so others can have a choice

  9. Cocoa says:

The smoking policy is one of the main reasons I love going to the vortex. At most restaurants when I have a couple of drinks I always think, “God I wish I could smoke in here.” Please don’t change it. It is part of what makes the Vortex different.

  10. James says:

Been coming with my wife for the past 2 years or so. She’s asthmatic and the smoke has never bothered her. I believe the kind of people who typically dine at vortex simply aren’t gonna be bothered by smoke. If a giant phallus welcoming you as you enter doesn’t turn you off, you’re probably accustomed to a little smoke in your usual hangouts.

We’re gonna keep coming no matter what. But I don’t think banning smoking will really draw many folks in. It seems like a move that would alienate more people than it would invite.

  11. Butch says:

The business owners should decide what they want! I’m nonsmoker now and smoking does not bother me!
